The oasis appears in the 2019 CGI remake of The Lion King. Other animals are revealed to live here as well for example, Kataka, Growler, and Zak from the 'Hakuna Matata' books. By the end of the film after Scar's death, Timon allows his former meerkat colony to reside at the oasis, thereby giving them a predator-free home. Rafiki then appears and he realizes that his true Hakuna Matata is with the ones he loves (not just the place he was looking for) and he set off to join Simba and the others. Timon tries to enjoy Hakuna Matata himself, however he begins to feel sad and guilty for his selfishness.

When Simba returned to Pride Rock to fight Scar, Timon stay behind thinking Simba betrayed them, while Pumbaa follows Nala to help Simba. He and Pumbaa claim it as their own territory, later raising Simba in the oasis. The area apparently possesses everything Timon was searching for. They name the oasis 'Hakuna Matata' after the philosophy they both chose to live under upon arriving. The two eventually arrive at the oasis while looking for their dream home. In the midquel, Rafiki unintentionally directs Timon toward the area, where, on the way, he meets and is escorted by Pumbaa. Like the Pride Lands, the jungle also has organized events like talent shows, banquets, and olympic games. It is also shown in the episode ' The Law of the Jungle' that the jungle has its own laws, which are created by a rhino judge known as the Wonderful Rhino of Laws. It is revealed that other animals live in the jungle as well, such as Ned the Elephant, who is the jungle's most popular pachyderm. Timon and Pumbaa are shown living in the jungle in the spin-off series. After helping Simba and the Pridelanders defeat Scar and the hyenas, Timon and Pumbaa end up residing with Simba and Nala in the Pride Lands. Simba is eventually convinced by Rafiki to return to the Pride Lands. Nala notes the place's beauty, but is confused as to why Simba never returned home.

Simba grows to adulthood while living an enjoyable easygoing life in the oasis and later encounters an adult Nala. They did not seem attached to any one place, but simply assumed home to be wherever they were. In the first film, Timon and Pumbaa bring Simba to the oasis after rescuing him from dying in the desert.
